Visual Elements of Line
The lines in photography are used to impact the audience by using different styles. These styles are direction, weight and character. For example if you look at a skyscraper it has has vertical lines running up it, this makes you feel intimidated by its power and superiority.
Another example is horizontal lines which makes you feel peaceful and calm like at a beach, or the top of a hill as the sun sets. This is best if you're taking a photo to convey a peaceful scene.
The next element is weight or thickness, this gives different vibes according to how thick the lines are. If the lines are thin they make you feel relaxed and easy but if they are thicker the photograph is made more dramatic.

Light Trails
Light trails use a long shutter speed at night to create long streaks of light. These photos are often taken at night to stop the photo from being over exposed.
